About John W. Simpson

​

Born in 1944 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, John studied art at the Slade School from 1963- 1967. He taught art in schools and colleges in Scotland and England, and worked in fine art conservation before moving to West Cork, Ireland in 2002 to paint full-time. His work has often been associated with poetry and music and is strongly influenced by raw, natural landscape, the figure, and the elements. 

 

John's paintings have been exhibited throughout Europe and a selection can currently be viewed at The Doswell Gallery, Rosscarbery.
